Flagship Farm Visualization

Role/Services:
Backing Visionary Ideas with 3D Imagery

Programs Used:
Rhino, Lumion, Premiere Pro, Photoshop

AppHarvest started as an idea to bring the center of agriculture to the region of Appalachia through high-tech agricultural facilities. In order to bring this idea to life the founders needed a way to represent the scale of their vision and demonstrate what a 60-acre greenhouse would look like in the region.

I created the first 3-D rendering of the company’s flagship 60-acre facility using my creative talent in conceptual design and rendering. I referred to documents about the size and operation of the facility and researched precedents from overseas. These renders, VR experiences, and videos demonstrated the scale and concept of the company, helping secure $82M in project financing and $11M in Series B. This rendering was seen in articles and news stories from Forbes 2019, Fast Company 2019, FoodDive 2019, and CNBC 2019.

I used VR (virtual reality) to help individuals understand the scale of the facility. Producing imagery for the 3D model that the company could use in a VR headset as company representatives traveled throughout the community and introduced investors and community members to the concept of high-tech indoor farming.
